Dr. Samuel Nana Yaw Simpson
Dr. Samuel Nana Yaw Simpson is a Senior Lecturer and currently the Head of Department of Accounting at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Legon. He holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and has been a lecturer and researcher for over a decade. His teaching, research and consulting interests include corporate reporting and taxation, public financial management, corporate governance and disclosures, sustainability, gender and accountancy, ethics and business education.
He has over the years consulted for a wide range of clients including: the World Bank on the observance of Standards and codes on Accounting and Auditing in Ghana project; the World Bank private sector development group on Accountability and Governance for State-Owned Enterprises in Ghana; the German Development Organisation (GTZ-GIZ). Also, he has organised training on the implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS), Public sector workers from Nigeria. He has also served as facilitator for several training sessions for accountants and non-accountants in areas of accounting and finance.
His recent projects include the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Sponsored-Project: Women on Corporate Boards in Ghana, and the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee (IMCC), Project: Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Performance Assessment Framework (PAF) for Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) Decentralisation
